Centre Chairperson: Sylvia Hayward-Harris
Location: Coalition for the Protection of Children premises, 38 Mount Hill, Pembroke HM 09.
Sylvia Hayward-Harris, Bermuda's newest and only active local Certified Teacher of Transcendental Meditation, is a mother, grand-mother, and great grandmother. The Raj Rajeshwari of Britain has called her the "Mother of Bermuda," and Sylvia's love, caring and respect for her island home and its people make this a fitting description. Sylvia learned TM in 1975, became a Siddha in 2002, and certified as a TM Teacher in March 2015. She states that her impetus for becoming a teacher of the TM program is directly related to her desire to make a positive difference in her community and her belief that TM, with its multiple scientific studies attesting to the positive impact of the practice on not only individual physical and emotional health and mental development but also on building increasingly harmonious social relationships. "Bermuda has already seen the benefits of two previous Creating Coherence projects where crime rates dropped and tensions cooled. Now we have the opportunity to make society-wide coherence permanent."

"We decided to take TM training because we recognized in ourselves a tendency to worry and fret, to be overly active and yet not accomplish as much as we could due to lack of focus. We were a busy, busy family and have remained so. We really needed TM! We also wanted our teen-aged daughters to have the advantage of this powerful tool for mind control and self-management. They immediately found it useful to them in managing school and friendship stresses. We have found it an invaluable tool for stress reduction and managing the anxieties and pressures of modern life. We all still mediate twice daily and really feel grateful to have developed a practice we can rely on every day, and especially during those periods of tests and difficulties that life brings."
